TCXO - Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator. The TCO is used to create a stable frequency reference over a prescribed temperature range. These devices can be used with either fixed or variable frequencies. As the fixed devices are manufactured to meet the specified frequency and to stay within a few parts per million for the life of the product. Lower cost TCXOs, used primarily in wireless equipment, can be used to meet the varying needs of the manufacturer, as to compensate for variables such as ambient temperature, voltage, or load environments.
